I hate my singing

I posted a new piece called “Morphine” to my page at Broadjam recently. It’s an instrumental, inspired by the band Morphine (not the drug), and I wrote some lyrics to it. I’m having a hell of a time recording the lyrics, because my singing sucks.
It’s a tough world for instrumentalists. Singers rule. Probably always will. I don’t have a problem writing lyrics that are worth reading (or so I think). My problem is vocalizing them in a way that’s worth hearing.
I’m working on various solutions to this problem. In the meantime, I plan to spend a lot of time listening to William Shatner with Ben Folds. My guess is that Shatner can’t sing either, but he’s figured out how not to.
