Dean Hunter-Cutrona
Dean Hunter-Cutrona is the artist whose work graces the covers of Richard Hunter's CDs The Act of Being Free in One Act and The Second Act of Free Being.
Hunter-Cutrona is a well known painter and sculptor in Boston. Among his previous installations is the downstairs room at "The Rat," also known as the Rathskellar, in Boston's Kenmore Square, where Hunter-Cutrona painted every vertical inch in the room with black and white images of urban scenes and urban dwellers (including hundreds of rats). The completed installation included dozens of life-size sculpted rats, and the climactic piece of the installation was a 6x6 foot sculpture of a vortex of rats. Hunter-Cutrona has exhibited in shows at Boston's Museum School, the Boston Architectural Center gallery, and other area galleries. His work has also served as the cover art for releases by other musicians and bands, including Boston's Seven League Boots.
Hunter-Cutrona's sculptures of skateboarders hang in Stride-Rite stores in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles. In July 1997, Transworld and Thrasher, the two leading international skateboarding magazines, will feature full-page reproductions of Hunter-Cutrona's painting "Ton City". Both these reproductions are sponsored by Simple Shoes.
Hunter-Cutrona has studied painting and sculpture at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, The Massachusetts College of Art, and the Art Institute of Boston, all located in Boston, MA.
Hunter-Cutrona can be contacted at 209A Franklin Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222, USA.
